Meet the team - Roger Drury

Hello,

I am Roger Drury, Micromech's Warehouse Manager. As part of our operations team my main responsibilities are purchasing, progressing orders, goods inwards, despatch, imports, stocktaking and internal quality audits (we have ISO9002). On the import side I deal with many other countries which is very interesting, keeps me very busy and as you can imagine causes me some puzzling situations.

Away from work I have been happily married to Sue for 20 years. We have 3 children, 2 sons and a daughter, they are 17, 15 and 13 years of age.

Sue and I became involved with the 'British Heart Foundation' charity 15 years ago following the birth of our first child Adam who was diagnosed with having a hole in his heart just days after being born. He needed major surgery and at the age of 10 months this operation took place. He is now fit and well, is attending the local college and a typical teenager - need I say more!

Sue became the secretary of our local Braintree branch where we raise money through various sponsored events like swimming marathons, endurance walks and quiz nights. Over the years that we have been involved the organisation has raised about £144,000 and on the latest sponsored walk I trudged 6½ miles and raised another £400.

Micromech and the staff are very supportive by entering teams and the company have annually sponsored our swims for the last 10 years.

I regularly donate blood and have a bronze and silver medal, I have donated blood 35 times, to get the bronze medal you have to donate blood 10 times, for silver its 25 and I am now going for gold which is 50.

For relaxation I like to watch most sports but my main interest is football. I have been a Tottenham Hotspur fan since I was 10 years old and although I am not a season ticket holder, I have been fortunate enough to get to most of the Spurs cup final wins in the past at Wembley and the European Final nights at White Hart Lane. It was easier to get to a game then as long as you were prepared to queue up for a ticket, its not so easy now.

I had a great time last August when I went to White Hart Lane for the Stadium tour, (the picture is of me giving the after match press conference) my weekend job, I wish!!

PS If you wish to make a donation to BHF give us a call!
