Micromech is delighted to introduce Renishaw, manufacturer of the multi-award winning - open, non-contact optical RG2 linear encoder who have developed an extensive catalogue of innovative encoder solutions to meet the fast changing technical challenges required by the motion industry.
The latest ground-breaking range of encoder solutions begins with the compact component RGH34, the "easy set-up" RGH41 readhead and the 360° RGR high-resolution rotary encoder.
The RGH34 is a simple to use 40µm open encoder which reads tape & glass scale, it is small, extremely versatile and very fast. The component readhead can easily be integrated into specialist machines and the smallest motion systems where mass and volume need to be kept to an absolute minimum. The RGH34 measures 15mm by 15mm by 8.8mm and using a small (33mmx 11mm) PCB interface, gives industry standard analogue or digital outputs. The RGH41 encoder takes the same RGH34 core technology but, for convenience, houses it in a fully RFI shielded body to enable its use in a range of more mainstream applications.
Thanks to revolutionary design advances, these readheads are exceptionally easy to set-up and benefit from all the market leading features of the RG2; open, non-contact, excellent linear accuracy, good dirt immunity, exceptional reliability, easy to install adhesive scale and the unique bi-coloured integral set-up LED.
The next innovation by Renishaw is the really useful 360° RGR rotary ring encoder. Rotary encoders, solid or hollow shaft, never quite seem to accommodate the application's specific requirements - mounting and coupling often prove difficult, resulting in unacceptable compromises. The RGR rotary ring encoder, based on the market proven RG2 linear encoder offers 360° capability on a low profile (10mm by 10mm section) stainless steel ring for low-intrusion integration. The rings also feature a unique patented tapered mounting concept, which simplifies even the trickiest installation.
The rings are available in sizes ranging from f 75mm to f 200mm, offering resolutions down to 0.2 arc seconds (0.00006°) and speeds over 2,000rpm. The angular resolution is determined by customer selection from a range of different resolution readheads. Reference marks can easily be mounted to the ring at any point to suit the application.
