Hi my name is Sarah King; I am one of two Operations assistants at Micromech. I have been here for just over a year having started out on just a three months temp contract. My job involves processing sales orders, purchase orders and general operations work such as invoicing. In addition and also very important as I am so the main point of contact for a number of specific customers.
After leaving school my working career didn’t get off to a good start, as I became seriously ill with Systemic Lupus and was unable to work for a few years. Luckily my Doctor got this under control and fortunately I have been reasonably well since.
Now at the tender age of 44 I have had a few quite different jobs, which included quite a lot of bar work which meant living away in London and Burnham-on-Crouch (where?). I have also worked in various shops, then when my son started secondary school took a number of administration roles, including reception.
I have been very happily married to my husband John for three years in December and we have a house in Braintree. My son Liam is nearly nineteen; he is studying music at Colchester Institute and also plays in a couple of bands. On top of this he works at the local Tesco to raise spending money. I also have a stepson of the same age who lives with us and I’m pleased to say both of them get on well. Rikki is studying computers and works part time in Braintree. I have a stepdaughter, Roxanne aged 22 and she lives with her boyfriend.
In my spare time I really enjoy going out with my Husband on his motorbike, it’s a Suzuki Bandit 1100. When we can, we like to go to watch the ‘Moto Gp’ held at Donnington, its fantastic. I’m a big Valentino Rossi fan.
I wonder why?
I don’t have my own bike but I did my Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) on a 125cc a couple of years ago but I didn’t continue riding because I don’t want to kill myself (pillion suits me fine).
I love to go on Holiday, anywhere is usually fine as long as there is lots to see and do. Occasionally I like to meet up with my friends for a quiet drink or a meal out and then just as occasionally to counteract this indulgence I try and go to the gym.
