Safety sensors for hazardous areas (type 2)

F3S-B Safety light curtain, E3FS Single-beam sensor
The safety light curtain F3S-B is suitable for providing hand, limb and body protection. The single beam sensor E3FS is designed to protect unauthorised entry in a hazardous area, by using 2 to 4 single beams in combination with the controller F3SP-U1P-TGR.
These Type 2 safety sensors meet all of the relevant safety requirements. They can be used as safeguarding devices in all applications corresponding to category 2 (EN954-1). When used in combination with the multifunctional muting controller F3SP-U2P-TGR, up to two F3SB safety light curtains can be applied in a muting application. The E3FS controller has an integrated muting function.
Emergency stop and safety door monitoring
G9SA & G9SB safety relay units
To ensure the maximum required level of safety EN 954-1 defineds four categories. The highest category 4, must have redundant signal processing and failure detection. This means that the failures must not cause the loss of the safety function and the system must be able to detect failures (e.g. contact weld).
The safety relay ranges G9SA and G9SB are designed and approved for safety systems up to category 4. They are type approved and offer a wide variety of applications. They are dedicated for emergency stop monitoring, door safeguard monitoring, two hand control (G9SA-TH), safety sensor monitoring.
The G9SA range is designed to be flexible and expandable. A variety of possible combinations allows this perfect fitting safety solution. The G9SB range is designed for space critical applications and small machines.
Safety door monitoring and interlocking
D4BL, D4BS, D4DS, D4GL & D4NL - Interlocking and safety switches
The D4BL, D4GL and D4NL guard-locking safety switches ensure that movable guards are locked during operation and cannot be opened until dangerous conditions have been removed. These switches are intended for use, for example, where the stopping time of a dangerous movement is longer than the time that a person needs to reach the hazardous area (machines with large amounts of inertia for instance), and for ovens, which may present a danger of burning.
The D4BS and D4DS safety door interlocking switches are intended for machines with fast shut-down time. They prevent the machine from starting until the guard is closed and automatically stop the machine if the guard is opened during operation, preventing any danger to the operator. These switches comply with EN 1088.
Position guarding with special solutions
D4DH & D4GS - Hinge safety switches
The D4DH hinge safety switch and the D4GS miniature safety key switch are designed for use with safety doors that form the entrance to protected areas in production systems and machines. The heads of both switches can be mounted in different positions for installation flexibility.
The D4GS has a special third contact that enables it to be used as a cross-fault safety switch for category 4 applications. Its very compact dimensions make the D4GS ideal for use where space is limited, and its IP67 rating makes it suitable for operating in extreme environmental conditions.
Position guarding and secure signalling
D4BN, D4DN, D4DR & D4F - General-purpose limit switches
Omrons D4BN, D4DN and D4DR are general purpose limit switches with a range of actuators for object over-travel and guard detection. Typical applications for these switches include elevators, escalators and conveyors. The miniaturized D4F offers up to 4 contacts with the minimum of space in a metal housing. The switches are equipped with direct opening contacts as defined in EN 60947-5-1 low voltage switch-gear, and the D4DR is equipped with a manual reset, which is ideal for situations where a visual check of the problem is required prior to the reset of the switch.
