Triple Power Drive TPD-M
TPD-M is the first servo drive worldwide integrating three servo power stages in a single housing. In addition to reduced purchasing and operating costs, the user profits from a variety of new installation possibilities and enhanced flexibility.
The TPD-M servo drive was especially designed for OEM packaging machinery construction; it can however also be advantageously used in other centralised automation structures incorporating a large number servo drives. Service and support sites are located in the vicinity of all major industry locations – worldwide. Well-trained and experienced application and support personnel provides professional assistance in any situation.

Communication
The support of all common fieldbus interfaces is an essential feature of open systems.
• CAN / CANopen
• EtherCAT
• Powerlink (on request)
• SERCOS III (on request) |
Feedback systems
• Resolver
• Sine-Cosine Feedback
(Single-/Multiturn)
• Hiperface Interface
• EnDat Interface
• Hall Sensors – analog and digital
• Rotary and Linear Encoders |
High Flexibility
The flexibility of the TPD-M servo drive is based on the free power stage adaption to the corresponding servo motor power within the scope of the available vectorial device sum current, which can be offered in the range between 2 to 30 Amperes. The power stages are operated on a central mains module and are available as single axis, 2 axis or 3 axis versions. |
Technical Highlights
Due to its 3 axis design, the TPD-M servo drive offers advantages in
Overall size / Miniaturisation
Cost and space reduction thanks to the reduced cabinet size |
Operational safety
Reduced number of components for housing, electronics, plugs, connectors and cable are the equivalent of increased availability.
Planning, Setup and Maintenance Overhead and Costs
• An individual device for different power stage configurations
• Simple device exchange due to pluggable SD Card holding all operation relevant information
• Reduced weight per servo drive simplifies handling
• Reduced error rate due to reduced wiring overhead
• Simplified stock-keeping due to reduced number of hardware variants |

Purchasing Costs
• Compact device design using less components (housing, electronics, plugs, connectors, heat dissipator and cable)
• Reduced number of cables for device to device connection and for communication (USB)
•Central use of filter and braking resistor |
Operating costs / Energy and Environment
• Speed-controlled fan ensures continually optimised energy consumption adapted to actual requirements.
• DC intermediate circuit coupling permits efficient energy exchange between the axes
• Reduced costs for packaging material and transport |

MotionWiz : The Configurator
To configure and use the mechanisms of the TPDM series, free MotionWiz configuration software is available to configure the system with just a few clicks of the mouse.
MotionWiz features an easy and “friendly” interface to speed up installation, optimisation and diagnostics procedures. To simplify configuration, MotionWiz shows a typical Windows ® environment on the screen with dialogue windows and toolbars. MotionWiz permits performing operations in both “on line” mode, directly in the mechanism, and in “offline” mode in remote on the PC. In this case, personalised configuration can be sent to the mechanism subsequently. To simplify the configuration of systems with a large number of axes but with different cuts and the same operating mode, MotionWiz permits maintaining the same mechanism configuration and only changing the type of selected motor.
Inside the MotionWiz configurator is a database containing the data of standard Parker motors series SMB/H-MB/H.
In the case of the mechanisms series TPDM being used with motors that do not appear in the above database, the customer can independently generate and control an own motor database inside MotionWiz which will not be overwritten by subsequent configurator updates.
MotionWiz also features a software oscilloscope software function with synchronous sampling (buffered) at 250 ms. The motor speed and current signals are displayed in the oscilloscope, to be used for easier axis calibration and other machine commissioning operations. The MotionWiz oscilloscope performs all the functions of a “physical” oscilloscope such as zoom, trigger on various conditions.
MotionWiz also includes an environment for programming the on-board PLC mechanisms called “picoPLC”. This environment consists of an editor with instruction list and ladder functions that also permits online debug. Comments can also be entered to the code in the editor and the programme made as application documentation can be printed in report form.
