Motion Coordinator
MC202 - Compact DIN-rail mounting unit. 2 Axis Stepper / 1.5 Axis Servo
The Trio MC202 is a compact DIN rail mounted Motion Coordinator based on Trio's proven high performance 32 bit DSP technology. It has been designed to provide a compact, cost effective solution for OEM applications. The unit features two axes, the first of which can be configured either for either servo (with encoder feedback) or stepper (with step/direction outputs) control. The second axis may be either a reference encoder OR a stepper axis
The MC202 features Trio's Multi-tasking BASIC language which allows true pre-emptive multi-tasking of up to 3 simultaneous processes. This allows parts of a complex application to be developed, tested and run independently, although the tasks can share data and motion control hardware.
Each axis may run moves using linear or circular interpolation, electronic cams and gearboxes. Support is provided for continuously rotating machinery and the inputs may be configured for accurate hardware registration.
The MC202 has 4 built in 24v inputs and 4 built-in bi-directional input/output channels. These may be used for system interaction or may be defined to be used by the Motion Coordinator for end of travel limits, datuming and feedhold functions if required. The MC202 can have up 256 external Input/Output channels and up to 32 analog input channels connected using DIN rail mounted I/O modules. These units connect to the built-in CAN channel of the MC202 The MC202 has a built in RS-232 port. In addition a further serial channel is available at TTL levels. External adapters are available to allow this serial port to be linked to a full-duplex RS-485 channel or a Trio membrane keypad on a fibre-optic link.

Motion Coordinator Daughter Boards
Daughter Boards - Plug-in compact axis and communication interfaces. Multiple daughter baords can be fitted to MC216/MC224. Single daughter boards can be fitted to MC206/Euro205.
One of the major advantages of Trio's Motion Coordinator is the range of interfacing options available using our highly flexible daughter board concept.
Each axis of the system has its own daughter board, a novel design using surface mount technology and dedicated semiconductor Gate Arrays configured for different functions.
Just larger than a credit-card in size, the Daughter Boards slot into the Euro 205, MC206, MC216 and MC224. The impact of this concept is in the adaptability of the Motion Coordinator to control machines using any combination of Servo or Stepper axes simply by inserting the appropriate daughter board into the MC processor modules.
- Compact axis design - 16 axes on a panel area of just 263 x 204mm.
- Hardware fast registration input facility gives each axis position capture in 1uS.
- Custom Daughter Boards can be produced for special customer applications.
