Electrical Test & Inspection Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Test & Inspection Engineer to join our Systems team. This is a hands-on role combining electrical testing, inspection and quality assurance to ensure our products and systems meet the highest standards before being delivered to customers.
Working closely with our engineering and manufacturing teams, you will be responsible for testing electrical control panels, motion control equipment, motors, cable assemblies and customer returns, while supporting continuous improvement and maintaining our high standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection and electrical testing of control panels and equipment using engineering drawings and schematic diagrams in accordance with company and customer quality standards.
- Inspection of mechanical assemblies to engineering drawings.
- Inspection and electrical testing of motion control equipment following documented company test procedures.
- Inspection and electrical testing of customer returns to diagnose faults and verify non-conformances.
- Electrical testing of large batches of motors and cable assemblies.
- Carry out electrical testing, including live testing of power circuits, in accordance with safe working practices.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and company Quality Assurance documentation.
- Liaise with engineers and manufacturing staff to resolve quality issues, non-conformances and support continuous improvement activities.
- Assist with the specification, calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment and test tools.
- Carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) of company equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment within the test areas.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Systems Director.

- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment within the test and inspection areas.
Quality Assurance
- Follow Micromech’s Quality Management processes and procedures at all times.
- Work in accordance with all relevant Quality Procedures and Work Instructions issued for your role.
- Complete inspection and test documentation accurately and maintain clear quality records.
Essential Requirements
- Electrical engineering qualification or equivalent experience (10 years minimum).
- Electrical test experience, including live testing of power circuits.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Able to communicate clearly in English.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of EN 60204 and its requirements.
- IPC-WHMA-A-620 accreditation.
- PAT Testing qualification.
- GCSE Grade D/3 or above in English Language and Maths.
- Experience working with motion control systems, industrial automation equipment or electrical control panels.
