Founded in 2016, Square Robot innovates in robotic inspection of above-ground tanks that store diesel, gasoline, kerosene, oils, and other products. By continuously developing robotic, data acquisition, and data-processing technologies, Square Robot enables in-service inspections to ensure tank integrity and safety.

Challenge

The submersible robot needs eight thrusters to achieve six degrees of freedom in navigation. Initially, a commercially available thruster proved incompatible with gasoline and other petrochemicals due to its materials. Therefore, Square Robot’s engineering team partnered with Kollmorgen, a market leader known for its expertise in specialized motion applications.
