WITTENSTEIN alpha rack-and-pinion systems provide accurate, dynamic and reliable linear motion for industrial automation, handling and machine-tool applications. Supplied as a complete drive solution, each system combines a matched gearbox, pinion, rack and lubrication system to optimise feed force, speed, rigidity and positioning accuracy.
Unlike systems assembled from unrelated components, WITTENSTEIN alpha linear systems are engineered so that each element works together effectively. This helps machine builders achieve the required performance while reducing component-selection risk and simplifying integration.
The portfolio includes planetary, right-angle and servo-worm gearbox options, as well as integrated motor-gearbox units. Different rack, pinion and gearbox combinations support applications ranging from general automation to highly dynamic, high-precision machine axes.
A System for Every Performance Level
WITTENSTEIN alpha linear systems are available across three performance levels:
- Value Linear Systems provide an economical solution for applications with moderate requirements for positioning accuracy, smooth running and feed force.
- Advanced Linear Systems are designed for average to high performance requirements, with gearbox options including HIGH TORQUE and HIGH SPEED configurations.
- Premium Linear Systems provide maximum power density, rigidity and precision for highly dynamic applications and demanding machine-tool axes.
Single-drive and master/slave configurations are available, enabling the system to be adapted to long axes and high-load applications. The modular portfolio supports spur and helical tooth configurations, depending on the selected system.
Simplified Installation and Maintenance
WITTENSTEIN’s INIRA® installation system simplifies rack assembly through integrated clamping, adjustment and pinning features. This helps reduce installation time while supporting accurate alignment between adjoining rack sections.
Matched lubrication components, including lubricating pinions and automatic lubricators, help ensure consistent lubrication throughout operation. This supports reliable performance and helps extend the service life of the rack-and-pinion system.
