Sanyo Denki SANMOTION stepping motors with encoder combine the accurate incremental movement and high holding torque of a stepping motor with direct position feedback. This provides a reliable motion solution for applications requiring position verification, stall detection and accurate homing.
The integrated rotary encoder monitors the motor’s actual position and returns this information to the controller. This allows the control system to confirm that commanded movement has been completed and detect stalls or missed steps caused by overloads or unexpected operating conditions. When used with a suitable controller, the encoder feedback can also support closed-loop operation.
SANMOTION motors retain the advantages of conventional stepping technology, including stable stopping without hunting, strong low-speed torque and straightforward pulse-based control. Encoder feedback adds greater confidence in machine operation without necessarily requiring the complexity or cost of a complete servo system.
The range includes 35, 42, 56, 60 and 86 mm frame sizes, with holding torque ratings from 0.195 to 9 Nm. Four optical incremental encoder types are available, providing a choice of resolution, output configuration and optional index pulse. Customised shafts, cables, connectors, brakes and other configurations can also be supplied to meet specific machine requirements.
