Rotary incremental encoders are precision electro-mechanical devices designed to track shaft position, rotation speed, and acceleration by generating output pulses as the shaft turns. Operating relative to a reference point, they require re-establishing the zero position after power loss or restart. Rotary encoders are electro-mechanical devices used to monitor and control the position and angular speed of rotating shafts. In particular, incremental encoders track positional changes relative to a defined reference point. As a result, they operate independently of the direction of rotation. By generating electrical pulses, they measure rotation, speed, and acceleration. However, the reference (zero) position must be reset at each system start-up.
