MCS 40 MCS 50 – Flexible Machine Controller

The Trio MCS 40 and MCS 50 Flexible Machine Controllers combine motion control, PLC functionality and machine automation within a compact, scalable control platform. Designed for OEMs and machine builders, the MCS range provides an integrated solution for machinery requiring coordinated motion, logic control and flexible I/O management.

Built around Trio's Motion-iX technology, the MCS 40 and MCS 50 provide high-performance EtherCAT motion control alongside IEC 61131-3 PLC programming. Combining machine and motion control within a single controller helps reduce system complexity while providing a common environment for programming, configuration and machine development.

The MCS 40 supports up to 4 EtherCAT axes, while the MCS 50 supports up to 8 EtherCAT axes, providing scalability for different machine sizes and motion requirements. Both controllers include an integrated MS-Bus interface for direct connection to the Trio MS I/O System, enabling compact local I/O expansion alongside distributed EtherCAT I/O architectures.

Industrial Ethernet communications including Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP and PROFINET enable integration with HMIs, PLCs, SCADA systems and wider factory automation networks. Support for PLCopen motion function blocks provides standardised motion programming tools for developing coordinated machine control applications.

The MCS 40 and MCS 50 are suitable for applications including packaging and labelling machinery, automated assembly, material handling, printing and converting equipment, inspection and test systems and other industrial machinery requiring integrated motion and machine control.
