Each Essentials™ Motion System combines a Kollmorgen Essentials™ servo motor, compact servo drive and single-cable power and feedback technology to provide a coordinated motion solution with simplified system integration. The matched motor and drive platform helps reduce engineering complexity while delivering the precision, torque density and reliability required by OEM machine builders.
The Essentials™ Servo Drive supports EtherCAT®, EtherNet/IP™ and PROFINET® within a single hardware platform, providing flexibility for different industrial control architectures. Multi-axis synchronisation using EtherCAT®, CIP Sync™ and PROFINET IRT enables precise coordinated motion, while integrated dual-channel STO SIL2/Cat 3 PL d functional safety supports machine safety requirements.
Essentials™ Servo Motors are available in power ranges from 200 W to 4,000 W and support 120 VAC, 240 VAC, 400 VAC and 480 VAC systems. Integrated SFD-M multi-turn absolute feedback provides 24-bit single-turn and 16-bit multi-turn resolution, with batteryless energy-harvesting technology eliminating the need for encoder battery backup.
Single-cable power and feedback connectivity, compact components and standardised mounting help simplify machine installation. Configuration and commissioning are streamlined through Express Setup in Kollmorgen WorkBench, with the full WorkBench toolset available for more advanced configuration, tuning and optimisation.
