MCS 30 – Flexible Machine Controller

The Trio MCS 30 Flexible Machine Controller combines motion control and PLC functionality within a compact platform designed for simple machines and stand-alone automation applications. Built around Trio's Motion-iX architecture, the MCS 30 enables machine builders to control motion, logic and I/O from a single controller.

Designed for users familiar with PLC programming, the MCS 30 supports IEC 61131-3 programming languages, including Ladder Diagram (LD), Structured Text (ST), Function Block Diagram (FBD) and Sequential Function Chart (SFC). Support for PLCopen motion control libraries provides standardised motion programming tools while retaining the advanced motion capabilities required for coordinated machine control.

The MCS 30 provides EtherCAT master functionality for up to four motion axes and integrates directly with the Trio MS I/O System through the high-speed MS-Bus interface. Up to 16 I/O slices can be connected locally, providing flexible digital and analogue I/O expansion. EtherCAT and MS-Bus communications are synchronised with the Motion-iX core to provide deterministic machine performance.

Industrial Ethernet connectivity including Modbus TCP, PROFINET IO and EtherNet/IP enables integration with HMIs, PLCs, SCADA systems and wider factory automation networks. Its compact DIN-rail mounted design helps minimise control cabinet space while providing a scalable machine control platform.

The MCS 30 is suitable for applications including pick-and-place machines, small gantry systems, conveyor and material handling equipment, automated assembly machinery, packaging equipment, inspection and test systems and other stand-alone automation applications.
